Prince Salman is the first child and eldest son of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his first wife, Queen Sabika. Salman was born 21st October 1969. When he was born he was 2nd in line to the throne after his father but became crown prince in 1999. Prince Salman has 11 younger siblings, 3 of whom are his full siblings by his mother and father, the other 8 have different mothers.
Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa completed all his schooling in Bahrain and then went to Washington D.C., USA to gain a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He furthered his studies at Cambridge in England with a degree in History and Philosophy of Science.
As Crown Prince Salman has introduced the 'Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program' which gives students who meet the criteria to study overseas. Like his father he was commander in chief of the Bahrain Defence Force. He also sits on the Economic Development Board, worked for freedom of the press and is on the committee for housing and urban development.
Salman married Hala bint D'aij Al Khalifa a daughter of the assistant undersecretary of the ministry of finance and national economy. Salman and Hala have 2 sons and 2 daughters;

3). Sheikha Fatima Al Dana bint Salman Al Khalifa
