Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant is the teenage heiress apparent to the Belgian throne. This means one day when her father abdicates she will be queen in her own right. Belgium has practiced absoloute primogeniture since 1991. Her parents are King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians. She has three younger siblings; Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel & Princess Eleonore.
Elisabeth is interesting as there aren't a lot of future queens in the world. The other heiress apparents in the world include Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Catharina-Amalia Princess of Orange from Norway. One day Princess Ingrid-Alexandra of Norway will join them but for the moment her grandfather is still King so she's only 2nd in line. The same goes for Princess Estelle of Sweden (Crown Princess Victoria's daughter). Infanta Leonore, Princess Asturias of Spain is only an heiress presumptive. If her parents have a boy (doubtful as Queen Letizia is already in her 40's but not unheard of) she will lose her place to her brother.
Elisabeth was born on 25th of October 2001. Her baptism took place on 9th of December the same year. Her full name is Elisabeth Therese Marie Helene. She only has one godmother and one godfather. Her cousin Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este and her aunt from her mother's side Baroness Helene.
Currently Princess Elisabeth lives with her parents and siblings at the Royal Palace of Laeken just outside Brussels. Elisabeth is educated at a school in Brussels. As she's still at school she doesn't undertake a lot of royal duties. As a princess she attended a concert and a presentation of an award as well as an opening of a Science museum. In 2013 when her father became King Philippe she became Duchess of Brabant, heiress apparent. Since then she's given a couple of speeches, christened a ship and been a flower girl at her cousin's wedding.
