Charlotte Casiraghi is the only daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Hanover and her late husband Stefano Casiraghi. Charlotte's full name is Charlotte Marie Pomeline and she was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco on August 3rd 1986. Charlotte has two brothers, one older Andrea (1984) and Pierre (1987). At the time of her birth Charlotte was 4th in line to the throne, she briefly moved down to 5th place when her younger brother was born, and then in 2005 when her grandfather passed away moved back to 4th place. Since the birth of her cousins, niece and nephew she is now 8th in line to the throne of Monaco. She is the niece of current monarch, Prince Albert II.
Charlotte's father Stefano passed away in 1990 when she was just 4 years old. After her father's death Princess Caroline moved her young family to France. In 1999 at the age of 13 Charlotte gained a stepfather when Caroline married Prince Ernst August of Hanover. Charlotte also got two stepbrothers, Prince Ernst of Hanover (1983) and Prince Christian of Hanover (1985). That same year Princess Caroline gave birth to her only child with Prince Ernst August, Charlotte's half-sister, Princess Alexandra of Hanover.
Charlotte spent her early school years at Les Dames de Saint Maur in Monaco. She then attended various schools in France before graduating in 2004. In 2007 Charlotte graduated from the University of Paris with a Licence of Philosophy. Since graduation Charlotte has worked in publishing both in Paris and London. Charlotte continues to work in Publishing with various magazines, in particular Vogue.
Charlotte is a keen equestrian. She is an honorary president of the Jumping International of Monaco. She is also the patron of the Public Safety Division, Maritime and Airport Police of Monaco. Charlotte has also presented trophies at the Monaco Grand Prix and regularly attends The Rose Ball to raise money for the Princess Grace Foundation.
Charlotte began dating French-Israeli comedian Gad Elmaleh. They have a son, Raphael together who was born on 17th December 2013. He is not in line for the throne as Charlotte and Gad never married. The couple split up in June 2015.
