Prince Hamzah is the first son and eldest child of King Hussein's fourth and final marriage to Queen Noor. Prince Hamzah was born on 29th March 1980. Hamzah has a younger brother Prince Hashim and two younger sisters Princess Iman and Princess Raiyah. He also has 7 half siblings from his father's three previous marriages (3 half brothers, 4 half sisters). Prince Hamzah is currently 7th in line to the throne of Jordan. He was previously Crown Prince of Jordan as requested by his father from 1999-2004 when his half brother King Abdullah II named his own son Crown Prince.
The prince spent his early education in Jordan but later attended boarding school at 'Harrow School' in England. After graduation like many in his family he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Upon graduation Prince Hamzah was awarded the title of 'Best Overseas Cadet.' Prince Hamzah also spent time studying at Harvard in Massachusetts, USA.
Prince Hamzah returned to Jordan and joined the 40th Armored Brigade in the Jordanian Army. He currently holds the rank of Colonel and has attended courses and attache positions in The UK, Poland, Germany and The USA. The Prince also spent time in Yugoslavia as part of a Jordanian peace keeping force.
Hamzah has previously acted as regent for his half brother on a number of occasions. Prince Hamzah is the Honorary President of the Jordan Basketball Federation and is a chairman of the board of trustees of the Royal Automobile Museum. He is also President of the Royal Aero Sports Club and the Tree Protection Society.
Prince Hamzah married Princess Noor on 27th May 2004 and they have one daughter;
1). Princess Haya (18th April 2007).
Hamzah and Noor divorced in 2009. Hamzah married a second time, to Princess Basmah on 12th January 2012. They have four daughters together;
1). Princess Zein (3rd November 2012)
2). Princess Noor (5th July 2014)
3). Princess Badiya (8th April 2016)
4). Princess Nafisa (7th February 2018)
In his spare time Prince Hamzah enjoys Jujitsu and is a qualified pilot and particularly likes to fly helicopters. Hamzah also likes motorbikes, shooting, parachuting, sky diving, water sports, reading history books and biographies.
