Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este

          Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este

 Prince Lorenz is the husband of Princess Astrid of Belgium the only daughter of King Albert II and Queen Paola. Lorenz comes from a royal family himself (a non-ruling one but never the less a royal one). His father is Robert, Archduke of Austria-Este and his mother Archduchess Margaret was actually Princess Margaret of Savoy-Aosta.

Lorenz was born in France. After school he went into the Austrian army and reached the rank of second lieutenant. He then went on to study at universities in Switzerland and Austria where he took courses in Economics. He then went on to work in various banks. Despite being the husband of 5th in line to the throne Lorenz also works as a director of a pharmaceutical company.

On 22nd September 1984 Lorenz married Princess Astrid. For some reason he didn't receive his title of Prince of Belgium until 1995. Together Lorenz & Astrid have five children;

1). Prince Amedeo, Archduke of Austria-Este (Born: 21st February 1986)
2). Princess Maria Laura, Archduchess of Austria-Este (Born: 26th August 1988)
3). Prince Joachim, Archduke of Austria-Este (Born: 9th December 1991)
4). Princess Luisa Maria, Archduchess of Austria-Este (Born: 11th October 1995)
5). Princess Laetitia Maria, Archduchess of Austria-Este (Born: 23rd April 2003)

In 2014 Lorenz gained a daughter-in-law when Prince Amedeo married Elisabetta Rosboch Von Wolkenstein. On May 17th 2016 Lorenz became a grandfather when Elisabetta gave birth to her and Amedeo's first child, Archduchess Anna Astrid of Austria-Este.

Lorenz attends royal functions with his wife and is a patronage of various charities. Otherwise he pretty much stays out of the limelight.
