Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco
Prince Moulay Rachid was born in Rabat, Morocco on June 20th 1970. He is the younger son and youngest of King Hassan II and Princess Lalla Latifa's five children. He has one older brother, the current monarch, King Mohammed VI (1963) and three sisters; Princess Meryem (1962), Princess Asma (1965) and Princess Hasna (1967). Prince Rachid was born 2nd in line to the throne of Morocco as his father was already King at the time of his birth. Rachid became heir presumptive to the throne in 1999, but in 2002 moved back to 2nd in line after the birth of his nephew. Prince Moulay Rachid is currently still 2nd in line to the throne.
Prince Moulay Rachid undertook all his studies in Rabat, Morocco. The Prince completed a Bachelor of Law, and in 1995 received his Master of Law. During his Masters Rachid spent time doing an internship at the UN in New York. The Prince has since completed a doctorate and finished a degree in International Relations. In addition to his academic studies Prince Moulay Rachid was also a colonel in the Royal Moroccan Navy, and later on was promoted to Brigadier General.
As the second senior Royal Prince Rachid has a number of important duties. He has been involved with the Scouts since 1997. Rachid founded the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association and initiated the Marrakech International Film Festival. Prince Moulary Rachid is also honorary president of the Grand Heart Association, Moroccan Environmental Protection Association, Spanish Social Service Association, Maghreb Association for Research and Fight Against AIDS and Moroccan Association for Law Students in France.
On June 15th 2014 Oum Kalthum Boufares. Their first child, a son, Prince Moulay Ahmed was born on June 23rd 2016.
