Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange

Princess Catharina-Amalia of The Netherlands, Princess of Orange was born to Prince Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and his wife Princess Maxima on 7th December 2003. Catharina-Amalia was born 2nd in line to the throne after her father. Her grandmother, Queen Beatrix was the reigning monarch at the time of her birth. The Princess' full name is Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria. Two of her godparents are her paternal uncle, Prince Constantijn and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. In 2013 when her grandmother abdicated, Catharina-Amalia became heiress apparent to the throne of The Netherlands and received the title, Princess of Orange.

Catharina-Amalia has two younger sisters Alexia (2005) and Ariane (2007). The Princess began her schooling at Bloemcampschool, but moved to her aunt Princess Laurentien's old school, Christelijk Gymnasium Sorghvilet and is currently attending this school. Catharina-Amalia is fluent in Dutch and English, and has learnt some Spanish from her mother Queen Maxima.

Despite being the heiress to The Dutch Throne Catharina-Amalia doesn't have many official duties as she is still in school. In 2010 at age 7 she was a flower girl at her godmother, Crown Princess Victoria's wedding to Daniel Westling. She can also be seen accompanying her parents at various times to events.

Catharina-Amalia is unique in that she is one of three female heiress' to a throne in the world. The other two are Crown Princess Victoria (Sweden) and Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant (Belgium). Infanta Leonor, Princess of Asturias of Spain is only the heiress presumptive, if her mother, Queen Letizia has a son he will replace her in the line of succession. In Norway Princess Ingrid-Alexandra will one day be the future queen, but is still only 2nd in line as her grandfather King Harald V is still the reigning monarch. The same situation is with Princess Estelle of Sweden, she will also one day be queen, but her grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria are before her.
