Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands


Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands is married to Prince Constantijn, fourth in line to the Dutch Throne. She is a daughter-in-law of Princess Beatrix, the former Queen and sister-in-law of current monarch, King Willem-Alexander.

Princess Laurentien was born in the city of Leiden on May 25th 1966. Her full name is Petra Laurentien Brinkhorst. Her parents are Laurens and Jantien, her father would later hold the office of Minister for Economic Affairs. Laurentien has one brother.

Laurentien was raised for the majority of her life, and went to school in The Hague. She spent her final year of school at the Lycee Francais in Tokyo and graduated there. Upon graduation Laurentien returned to The Netherlands and studied in History for two years, After this she moved to England and attended the University of London and graduated with a BA in political Science. Following this she went on to complete a Master of Journalism at The University of California.

On December 16th 2000 Laurentien became engaged to Prince Constantijn of The Netherlands, the youngest son of Queen Beatrix. They married a year later on May 19th 2001. At the time of the marriage Constantijn was 3rd in line to the throne after his older brothers Willem-Alexander and Friso. Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien have three children together;

1). Countess Eloise (June 8th 2002)

2). Count Claus-Casimir (March 21st 2004)

3). Countess Leonore (3rd June 2006)

Laurentien performs official royal engagements when the need arises.
