Tiara Time!!!

Just a quick Tiara Time. Last week on April 9th, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands stepped out in honour of the Dutch Diplomatic Corps. The Queen of The Netherlands appeared at the Gala dinner event in the Antique Pearl Tiara. The tiara dates back to the beginning of the last century and has been worn by four queens of The Netherlands (including the current one) and by Princess Margriet.

It's a great choice for an event such as a gala dinner as it's not too flashy and is not one of the oldest tiaras in the Dutch collection, but it's pretty and great for an evening event.

Tiara Time 23rd May 2018!!!

Two weeks ago we had a whole host of tiaras on display. On the 23rd of May the Royal family of Luxembourg hosted King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. They marked the occasion with a gala banquet and tiaras were worn.

Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie in all their finery.

The evening's hostess, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore the Belgian Scroll Tiara. Very pretty and simple. It worked with her dress and was a nice choice for a state visit.

The guest, Queen Maxima surprised everyone by wearing the Stuart Tiara for the first time. Though not the eldest in The Dutch tiara collection, it's considered a big one. It's a huge compliment to the Luxembourg Royal family. Though Maxima did play it down by not adding the diamond. You cold also say it was too extravagant, possibly trying to outshine Maria Teresa. That's Maxima though!

The young Hereditary Grand Duchess wore the Chaumet Diamond Pearl Tiara. This was Stephanie's first time wearing it. A very special occasion for her, and a great honour as previously it has only ever been worn by her mother-in-law, The Grand Duchess. Stephanie kept the tiara low key, by removing the larger pearls.

Stay tuned for a look at the tiaras worn at Crown Prince Frederik's 50th gala dinner.

Tiara Time!!!

We got to see three of the Dutch tiaras on display this week. The Dutch Royal family hosted a gala dinner for their diplomatic corps. Queen Maxima, former queen, Princess Beatrix and Princess Margriet stepped out in glitz, glamour and of course tiaras.

Embed from Getty Images

Queen Maxima opted for the Aquamarine Tiara. It's cute and light hearted and matches the concept she's going for. I do feel that given the importance of Beatrix's tiara which we will look at in a second Maxima could have chosen something with a little more status.

The former queen wore the Queen Emma Diamond tiara. This is a very special tiara and is the third eldest in the Norwegian collection. It looks beautiful and a perfect choice for a lady whom the Norwegian's hold in such high regard.

Princess Margriet wore the Pearl Button Tiara. A lovely piece that goes with almost every outfit. The tiara has special significance for Margriet as she wore it at her own wedding back in 1967. She still borrows it regularly.

Tiara Time!!!

We saw two tiaras come out this week, both worn by Queens.

On April 19th Queen Elizabeth II hosted a dinner for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and in true head of the Commonwealth style donned a tiara.

As we can see from the close up above, The Queen has chosen to wear 'The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland' tiara. This tiara dates back to 1893 and was first worn and owned by her grandmother, The Queen Mary.

This is a strong choice for the dinner as the name itself represents Great Britain. It's also sensible, regal and not flashy.

The second tiara for the week was worn by Queen Letizia of Spain at a gala dinner to welcome the President of Portugal.

Queen Letizia chose to wear the 'Cartier Pearl and Diamond Tiara.' Not a particularly old tiara, it dates back just to the 1920s and was first owned by Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain, the great grandmother of King Felipe and a granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

I think this was a good choice for the occasion. Whilst the President of Portugal is important Letizia would not want to wear anything over the top. This is a well known tiara and has been worn by many of the royal women of Spain.

Tiara Time!!!

It's Tiara time!!! There were three Tiara events recently. In Spain, In The Netherlands and in Denmark.

22nd February - Spain

Queen Letizia of Spain wears the Fleur de Lys Tiara. This one dates back to 1906 and probably ranks 3rd in the importance of Spanish tiaras. I think the tiara is just too big for her. Letizia is tiny and should've gone with a smaller tiara. In addition you kind of lose her in the black dress. I would've given her something a bit more colourful to wear.

27th March - The Netherlands

Queen Maxima wears the Diamond Bandeau Tiara, The Tiara is not so old, and dates back to 1937. Maxima wears it every now and then. I think Maxima looks beautiful. I love her dress and the pattern. The tiara is a good choice, as it's quite subtle. The First Lady of Argentina is not royal so she won't be wearing a tiara, so a smaller tiara is quite appropriate.

28th March - Denmark.

L-R:  Crown Princess Mary wearing the Ruby Parure Tiara. This is one of her favourites. It dates back to 1804 and is one of the eldest in the Danish Collection. It is Mary most frequently worn tiara.

Queen Margrethe II wears the Pearl Poire tiara. This one dates back to 1825 and is also one of the eldest in the collection. It also happens to be Margrethe's favourite tiara.

Queen Mathilde wears the Nine Provinces Tiara in all it's glory. Usually Mathilde just wears the base. This is the second eldest, but most important tiara in Belgium's collection.

Another shot of Mary in the Ruby Parure. I love the simplicity of her dress, the gold is stunning and the red ribbon works beautifully with the tiara. Just stunning!

Not a fan of Princess Marie's dress. She is wearing what looks like (it's hard to tell) the Diamond Floral Tiara. The tiara is owned by Princess Marie and she wears it most frequently of her two tiaras.

Tiara Time!!! Queen Margrethe II's 2017 New Year Banquet

Another New Year has been and gone. As per tradition Queen Margrethe II of Denmark held her New Year's Banquet in the evening of January 1st. The Queen and the Princesses Mary and Marie all wore tiaras. No real surprises in what they wore, but we'll have a look anyway.

Margrethe wears her beloved fur stole and looks pretty in a light blue dress, though it looks a lot like the one she wore last year. Her tiara is the Pearl Poire. It dates back to 1825 and is actually owned by the Country of Denmark rather than the Queen herself. It's a nice tiara, bit boring, but a favourite of Queen Margrethe. She wore this tiara last year as well and coupled with the look a like dress is a bit of a disappointment.

Crown Princess Mary looks stunning in a light gold shimmery dress. The combination with the maroon cardigan is just beautiful. It really compliments her make up as does her subtle make up. Two thumbs for Mary in the clothing department. Her tiara is the Ruby Parure which she personally owns. It's one of the oldest Danish tiaras dating back to 1804. It's a favourite of Crown Princess Mary and she's worn it to the past six New Years Day Banquet including this year. I'm actually not a fan of it. I think it's too tall and chunky for Mary. Mary's elegant and needs something a bit smaller.

Princess Marie like her sister-in-law chose something shimmery. I'm not a huge fan of this. It's a bit bland and the gold doesn't match with the silver. Her shoes are nice though. Marie is wearing the Diamond Floral Tiara. This tiara was purchased in 2009 specially for The Princess and it belongs to her. Marie prefers it to her other tiara and frequently wears it. This is the 5th year in a row she's chosen this tiara for the New Year's Banquet.

Tiara Time!!! Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace

On the 8th of December a Diplomatic Reception was held at Buckingham Palace. We rarely see the UK Royals wearing their extensive tiara collection, but tonight it was on show.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wearing the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara. This one dates back to 1914 so not very old as tiaras go. However it's special that it's been worn by Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, and now by The Duchess of Cambridge.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall wears the Greville Tiara. It's such a beautiful tiara. It's big, but it suits her.

Tiara Time!!! Nobel Prize dinner 2016

I thought I'd do two tiara times just for fun. The first is the annual Nobel Prize dinner in Sweden. It's held every year on the 10th of December. Queen Silvia and the three Princesses are always dolled up and where some beautiful tiaras in honour of the Nobel Prize winners. Let's see what this year featured;

We'll start with our leading lady, Queen Silvia. She's gone with a silver look this year and whilst I'm not a very big fan of this outfit she does look quite regal. This year Queen Silvia is wearing The Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara. It's a beautiful tiara dating back to 1806 and was worn at the wedding of her son, Prince Carl Philip to Princess Sofia in June last year. This tiara is only ever worn by The Queen.

Crown Princess Victoria wins the night. She looks stunning in this dress and I love the intricate pattern on the dress. Victoria is wearing the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara. It dates back to 1810 so it's one of the special ones of The Swedish collection. I like the base of the tiara, but find the feather design at the top reminds me of a dancer at the Moulin Rouge. However from afar it looks quite nice and compliments the floral pattern as well as the colour of her dress.

Then of course we come to Princess Madeleine. I'm a bit disappointed overall with both outfit and tiara choice. Her dress looks like someone went and stuck crepe paper all over the skirt. The one compliment is that the colour is nice. As for the tiara, Madeleine chose the Connaught Diamond Tiara. I do love this tiara, it's beautiful. What I don't like is that her older sister, Crown Princess Victoria wore it at the same event last year in 2015. If I were Madeleine I would've chosen the Diamond Six Button Tiara. We didn't see it last year and it's a much more significant tiara.

We got a treat from Princess Sofia this year as she wore a new tiara. Not exactly new, we've seen it once before on Crown Princess Victoria, but it's rarely seen. This is called the Cut Steel Bandeau. It's a subtle tiara and I like the pattern. I think it could have more colour as it blends in a bit with Sofia's dark hair. Her dress is a gorgeous colour, but the design is bland and it looks like a sack on her. The sleeves are far too big.

Tiara Time!!!

As many of you might know from reading my 'What's Happening' segments we have been lucky enough over the last two days to see a meeting of royals. I love it when the Royals meet up because it's like a big party. In particular I enjoy seeing royals who enjoy spending time with the colleagues.

Between the 28th-30th November King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium made a state visit to The Netherlands. They have of course been spending the majority of their time with their counterparts, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. As two of the young royal couples in the world (the others being King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain and Prince Albert II & Princess Charlene of Monaco, but as Prince Albert has been ruling since 2005 I often forget about him) they seem to really enjoy each others' company. I imagine they have a lot in common, the first as I mentioned being young royals. Both King Albert II of Belgium and Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands abdicated in 2013. Both couple have the challenge of keeping their young families out of the spotlight and raising them as leaders of the world. Not to mention that both couples have as their heirs, a Little Princess. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's heir is their eldest daugher Princess of Orange, Catharina-Amalia and King Philippe and Queen Mathilde's is their elder daughter Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant.

On the 28th of November, to welcome the Belgian Royals a state dinner was held. It was attended not only by the two couples, but we saw Princess Beatrix as well as Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands and Princess Margriet. Tiaras were worn by all five royal ladies much to my excitement. Let's take a look at what they wore;

Here they all are in an official photo from the state banquet. At the back we have Pieter van Vollenhoven (the wife of Princess Margriet), Princess Margriet, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien. In the front we have Queen Mathilde, King Philippe, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix. I just wanted to point out the difference in dress between Mathilde and Maxima. Maxima stands out in that beautiful red and gold ensemble. She's all about the flare. Mathilde reminds me of a Disney princess. She looks beautiful, pretty in pink, but it's a simple taste. Now on to the tiaras.

We'll start with the hostess, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. She's chosen a very regal look for the evening with all the rubies and red. There's no mistaking that she is The Queen. Maxima is wearing The Mellerio Ruby Tiara. It's an interesting choice as it's one of the oldest and most important tiaras in the very extensive collection of tiaras owned by the House of Orange. It dates back to 1889 and was first worn by Queen Emma. It's a tiara set aside solely for use by the Queen. I've only ever seen her wear it at weddings. I think it's a big compliment to Philippe and Mathilde that she chose such an important tiara (or she's showing them who's boss).

Our other leading lady of the night, Queen Mathilde of Belgium. Unlike Maxima, Mathilde has chosen a very clean, pure look. The only jewellery other than her tiara are those lovely pearl eaarings and her brooch. Mathilde doesn't have as many tiaras to choose from as Maxima, but like her counterpart she has opted with one of the most important in her collection. Queen Mathilde is wearing the Nine Provinces Tiara. It dates back to 1926 and like Maxima's tiara is only worn by the Queen or wife of the King (Princess Lilian). It was first worn by Queen Astrid of Belgium. What's special is, when Mathilde does wear it she usually only wears the base. For example earlier this year in May she wore it to a gala dinner with King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, but wore only the base. For this state dinner in The Netherlands she has worn the whole tiara and it looks amazing. Tiara's talk, and this says a lot as with Queen Maxima's choice. It shows a lot of respect for their hosts and how close their friendship really is (or she's trying to one up Maxima).

Next on our list is Princess Margriet's tiara. For those who are unaware, Princess Margriet is the aunt of King Willem-Alexander and younger sister of Queen Beatrix. Margriet's dress is so classy and really pretty. Some of the older royals, Queen Silvia for example have a great sense of style and Margriet is included high on that list. Princess Margriet chose to wear the Pearl Button Tiara. It's a very special choice for her as it was her wedding tiara. The tiara belongs to King Willem-Alexander, but he's obviously lent it to his aunt on this occasion. I like that she chose this and not the Emerald Parure as she only just wore that last week whilst she was in New York. It's nice to mix it up a bit. For Margriet to wear the Pearl Button is a huge compliment to the Belgian guests. Whilst it's not one of the more important tiaras it was also Queen Maxima's wedding tiara and has been worn at a number of royal weddings. The tiara has a lot of sentimental value and I think it's a good choice and speaks volumes of the close relationship between The Netherlands and Belgium.

Here we have Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands. Laurentien is the wife of Prince Constantijn, brother of The King. Laurentien chose to wear the Queen Emma Diamond Tiara. It's quite a special piece as it's an old one. It also gets shared around a lot which means it's got a lot of sentimental importance.

Lastly we have Princess Beatrix, the matriarch of the group and former Queen of The Netherlands. I like that Beatrix chose a small tiara so as not to draw attention to herself. I think it's a beautiful message allowing the next generation to have the lime light. Beatrix chose the Dutch Diamond Bandeau tiara. I really expected something a bit more from her since everyone else wore something with meaning. This tiara isn't very old, dating back just to 1937. It's also been worn by many royals from Beatrix to Maxima to Beatrix's sister Princess Cristina. I think Beatrix should've gone possibly with The Antique Pearl Tiara or perhaps The Ruby Peacock.

I hope you've enjoyed Tiara Time this time round. I look forward to the next one. Stay turned because in about 11 days we'll see the Swedish Royal family break out their tiara for the Nobel Prize dinner!!!

Tiara Time!!!

Anyone who's read my What's Happening post from Friday will know that Princess Margriet of The Netherlands and her husband Pieter van Vollenhoven spent a few days in New York.

Whilst on their trip they attended a ball and The Princess looked absoloutely stunning in a glimmery emerald green dress. Margriet topped it all off by wearing a gorgeous emerald tiara with matching necklace and earrings.

The tiara she chose to wear is called The Emerald and Parure Tiara. It's owned by King Willem-Alexander himself and dates back to 1890 (still not the oldest tiara in the extensive Dutch collection). Being a read head I'm a huge fan of anything green. The Emerald Parure suits Princess Margriet. It's perfect for a ball like this as it's not to showy. I think she looks fantastic and so elegant.

Tiara Time!!!

It's been a while since our last tiara time. As you may know from reading my 'What's Happening' posts King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on Sweden are currently on a state visit to Germany.

Last night they attended an official dinner at Schloss Bellevue Palace to welcome them. I didn't expect a tiara sighting, but Queen Silvia stepped out in tiara and ball gown for the occasion.

The elegant Queen of Sweden chose to wear the Connaught Diamond Tiara. This tiara is owned by The King. It's been worn by Silvia and both her daughters. I think it's an excellent choice for the occasion. It's a beautiful tiara that stands out. However it's not the oldest in the Swedish collection, by a long stretch. Queen Silvia probably wanted to wear a low key tiara as it was just a dinner and not a dinner where any other royals were attending. At the same time she probably wanted a tiara that looked nice, and made her guests feel important. The Connaught Diamond Tiara accomplishes this.

Here are a few pictures of Queen Silvia in the tiara;

Tiara Time!!!

In honour of his 70th Birthday King Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden hosted a banquet for his friends, family & royal guests. Tiaras just happened to be worn at this birthday banquet. Let's see what was on display...

Looking elegant as always, the leading lady, Queen Silvia. The Queen is wearing the Connaught Diamond Tiara. It dates back to 1905 and is not even close to being the oldest in the Swedish collection which has many, many old tiaras. It is a beautiful tiara though. It's owned by The King himself and Silvia is quite generous with it, both Crown Princes Victoria & Princess Madeleine have worn it.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wearing the Laurel Wreath Tiara. Not a very old one Swedish wise, but a unique one, and a good choice.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden. It's a bit hard to see what she's wearing but I believe it is the Swedish Modern Fringe Tiara. It's owned by Queen Silvia but Princess Madeleine is a frequent user. It's a beautiful, simple tiara and it looks great on Madeleine.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Margrethe II is wearing her favourite tiara, The Baden Palmette Tiara. The Queen just wore this tiara a few weeks ago at a state dinner with the President of Mexico. She also wore it last month at the Arts & Culture Ball. I love this tiara but honestly, three times so close together? The Danish have a beautiful collection of tiaras I think it might be time for Margrethe to wear a different tiara.

Crown Princes Mary chose to forgo a tiara altogether. Instead she's wearing some floral, leafy side head band thing. I'm not sure it's my cup of tea. It looks like something's crawling up her face. Each to their own I suppose.

Queen Mathilde is wearing the Wolfer's Necklace Tiara. It's a fairly new tiara and only dates back to the 1960's. It is special though as it used to belong to Queen Fabiola.

Princess Beatrix wears the Wurttenburg Pearl Tiara. This tiara is owned personally by the former queen and dates back to 1897. Despite the old date it is still not the oldest tiara in the Dutch collection.

Tiara Time!!!

It's time for...Tiara Time!!! Two weeks ago on the 13th of April the President of Mexico visited Denmark. In his honour Queen Margrethe II held a state banquet. We got to see the Queen along with both Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie wearing tiaras. It was very exciting!!!

Here we have Queen Margrethe II. She is wearing her favourite tiara, The Baden Palmette Tiara. It's really a very pretty tiara with it's love heart design. It's also one of the oldest in the Danish collection. Queen Margrethe wore the tiara just last month at the Arts & Culture ball.

For those of you with a keen eye, Queen Margrethe II had doubled up with her tiaras for this occasion. Around her neck is another one of Denmark's most prized tiaras, the Princess Thyra Sapphire Tiara. This tiara is actually currently owned by Margrethe's cousin Princess Elisabeth but she has obviously lent it to the monarch for this occasion.

Here's Crown Princess Mary & Crown Prince Frederik. Mary is wearing, for the 2nd time the Princess Mary Diamond Tiara. She debuted it just last month at the Arts & Culture ball.

and Princess Marie with Prince Joachim. Not quite sure whether Marie and Mary co-ordinated their outfits or not, but they're both wearing red! Princess Marie is wearing her favourite tiara, The Diamond Floral Tiara. Marie has worn this tiara three times this year alone. The first was at Queen Margrethe's annual New Year ball and the second was at the Arts & Culture Ball last month. Marie does have another tiara, The Floral Danica Tiara but she rarely wears it.

Tiara Time!!! (Queen Margrethe's New Year Banquet 2016)

Every year on the evening of January 1st Queen Margrethe II of Denmark throws a New Year Banquet. It's a fantastic time to see the Danish royals come out in all their glitter & sparkles. I finally found some pictures of the 2016 banquet held just 5 days ago;

The royal host, Queen Margrethe II & her husband Prince Henrik. Queen Margrethe looks just stunning in that beautiful sky blue gown. I love the fur scarf, really adds a bit of winter to the look. I can imagine that this is what Queen Elsa would look like if she was 75. It's a bit hard to see but the Queen is wearing the Pearl Poire Tiara, one of Denmark's most important tiaras. This tiara is only ever worn by the present queen of Denmark. I can't wait to see it adorn Princess Mary's head once she takes the role.

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Marie and Prince Joachim

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. Like her mother-in-law Mary has gone with blue for the evening. I love both shades of blue, just not together. It's also two different materials and patterns & it looks a little strange. On her head Princess Mary is wearing the the Ruby Parure Tiara. Aside from her wedding tiara this is the one that Crown Princess Mary wears most frequently.

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Marie and Prince Joachim
Princes Marie and Prince Joachim of Denmark. My first thought is isn't she cold! Queen Margrethe is all rugged up in furs & the Crown Princess is wearing long sleeve. Princess Marie steps out with not even a jacket. The dress is beautiful, though all white is a little plain. She's clearly spiced it up with her red toe polish. I love it! The princess is wearing the Diamond Floral Tiara.

Tiara Time!!! (Swedish Nobel Prize Award 2015)

I'm sooo excited for another Tiara Time!!! This week at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony we saw the Swedish royal family parading their tiaras. It was really a beautiful sight!

We'll start of course with the leading lady of the Swedish royal family, Queen Silvia. The Swedish royal family have a lot of tiaras at their disposal, and what makes them unique is that they're all quite old. Real family heirlooms. Tonight Queen Silvia wore the 'Nine Prong Tiara' (also known as the Queen Sofia Tiara). This is a biggie in their collection of tiaras and with the exception of Princess Birgitta no one else wears it, but the queen (or at least not that I've seen).

I love this tiara, it dates back to the 1860s and it's everything a tiara should be. It's sparkly, beautiful and the prongs are just gorgeous. My favourite part is the fan in the middle. It's a lovely way of honouring the Nobel Prize candidates by wearing such a beautiful tiara, and such an important one.

Next up we have Crown Princess Victoria. Victoria's actually surprised us by doing a double tiara wearing tonight. On her head is the 'Connaught Diamond Tiara.' As far as tiaras go it's not a very old one, it dates back to 1904. This tiara is worn by both Victoria and her younger sister Princess Madeleine. It's a gorgeous tiara and the diamond flowers popping up in between the loops is beautiful. Whilst it's not the the most important one in the Swedish collection, I think it's a good choice for Victoria and it suits her.

Around her neck the Crown Princess is actually wearing the 'Napoleonic Amethyst Tiara.' The tiara on her head might not be an important one, but the one around her neck is! The tiara dates back to 1806 and is the second oldest in Sweden's collection. The only other person who's worn this tiara recently has been Queen Silvia so this gives a bit of a hint to it's standing tiara wise. I love the colour purple so naturally I'm a big fan of this tiara. On Victoria it looks amazing and matches her outfit for the evening, but it also compliments her eye colour.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has stunned with a new tiara! Not only is it new, but it's beautiful. The combination of diamonds and aquamarines is gorgeous. Madeleine's eyes are blue so they match her eyes, and the silver of the dress makes for a great combination as well. This tiara hasn't got a very long history when compared with other tiaras. It dates back to the early 1900s. Currently the tiara actually belongs to Madeleine's aunt, Princess Margaretha. Luckily Margaretha shares it out quite a bit.

Princess Sofia is doing what most royal brides do for their first tiara events after their weddings (Carl Philip and Sofia got married in June of this year). That is, she's wearing her wedding tiara. This makes sense as Sofia is not a princess by blood so she can't borrow a tiara from someone else in the family and she's not going to be allowed to wear any of the big namers. This tiara is brand new and of course dates back to June of this year. I like the green tips, but I'm not the biggest fan of it. You can see that it's new and doesn't have the same quality as the other tiaras we've seen so far. The tiara reminds me of something a child might play with. Hopefully as Sofia stays in the family she will be given more tiara privileges (you can always tell the importance of a royal by how many tiaras they wear and which ones they wear).

All in all a great tiara time. We saw some real classics, we had a double tiara from the Crown Princess, a surprise from Princess Madeleine and Princess Sofia showing off her wedding tiara. I can't wait for the next Tiara Time!!!

Tiara Time!!!

I couldn't wait until Fashion Friday for this, I was sooo excited!!! For those of you who've read my 'what's happening' post from Friday 27th November, you would have noticed that Queen Elizabeth II along with her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall attended a gala dinner in Malta for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Queen Elizabeth and Camilla got all dressed up for the event, and they wore...tiaras!!! I just love tiaras and since I've started this blog nobody has worn one. Now they have!!! Eventually I'd really like to start a special page/section for tiaras because they often have history and they're just really, really beautiful. So I'm that excited I couldn't wait for this coming Friday to discuss the tiaras. I'm going to look at them now instead. Not in great detail, just a quick look.

I think whenever I see a royal wearing a tiara I'll do a special 'Tiara Time' post instead of waiting for Fashion Fridays.

Camilla wore the Greville Tiara. As you can see it's quite a big piece, meant to make a statement. I'm not sure whether I think it suits her or not. It sits well on her hair but I feel it's too big for her head.

Queen Elizabeth is wearing The Vladimir Tiara. You can change the stones and she's put in emeralds for this occasion. She's also paired it with a matching necklace. I think this is just right for a gala dinner. It sparkles but it doesn't stand out too much. As a queen she wants to show the other heads of state that she's approachable. I think this tiara does that.
