Happy Anniversary to Princess Anne, The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom and her husband Timothy Laurence. Princess Anne married her second husband in 1992. Today they celebrate 23 years of marriage. Congratulations and many, many more!!!

Tiara Time!!! (Swedish Nobel Prize Award 2015)

I'm sooo excited for another Tiara Time!!! This week at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony we saw the Swedish royal family parading their tiaras. It was really a beautiful sight!

We'll start of course with the leading lady of the Swedish royal family, Queen Silvia. The Swedish royal family have a lot of tiaras at their disposal, and what makes them unique is that they're all quite old. Real family heirlooms. Tonight Queen Silvia wore the 'Nine Prong Tiara' (also known as the Queen Sofia Tiara). This is a biggie in their collection of tiaras and with the exception of Princess Birgitta no one else wears it, but the queen (or at least not that I've seen).

I love this tiara, it dates back to the 1860s and it's everything a tiara should be. It's sparkly, beautiful and the prongs are just gorgeous. My favourite part is the fan in the middle. It's a lovely way of honouring the Nobel Prize candidates by wearing such a beautiful tiara, and such an important one.

Next up we have Crown Princess Victoria. Victoria's actually surprised us by doing a double tiara wearing tonight. On her head is the 'Connaught Diamond Tiara.' As far as tiaras go it's not a very old one, it dates back to 1904. This tiara is worn by both Victoria and her younger sister Princess Madeleine. It's a gorgeous tiara and the diamond flowers popping up in between the loops is beautiful. Whilst it's not the the most important one in the Swedish collection, I think it's a good choice for Victoria and it suits her.

Around her neck the Crown Princess is actually wearing the 'Napoleonic Amethyst Tiara.' The tiara on her head might not be an important one, but the one around her neck is! The tiara dates back to 1806 and is the second oldest in Sweden's collection. The only other person who's worn this tiara recently has been Queen Silvia so this gives a bit of a hint to it's standing tiara wise. I love the colour purple so naturally I'm a big fan of this tiara. On Victoria it looks amazing and matches her outfit for the evening, but it also compliments her eye colour.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has stunned with a new tiara! Not only is it new, but it's beautiful. The combination of diamonds and aquamarines is gorgeous. Madeleine's eyes are blue so they match her eyes, and the silver of the dress makes for a great combination as well. This tiara hasn't got a very long history when compared with other tiaras. It dates back to the early 1900s. Currently the tiara actually belongs to Madeleine's aunt, Princess Margaretha. Luckily Margaretha shares it out quite a bit.

Princess Sofia is doing what most royal brides do for their first tiara events after their weddings (Carl Philip and Sofia got married in June of this year). That is, she's wearing her wedding tiara. This makes sense as Sofia is not a princess by blood so she can't borrow a tiara from someone else in the family and she's not going to be allowed to wear any of the big namers. This tiara is brand new and of course dates back to June of this year. I like the green tips, but I'm not the biggest fan of it. You can see that it's new and doesn't have the same quality as the other tiaras we've seen so far. The tiara reminds me of something a child might play with. Hopefully as Sofia stays in the family she will be given more tiara privileges (you can always tell the importance of a royal by how many tiaras they wear and which ones they wear).

All in all a great tiara time. We saw some real classics, we had a double tiara from the Crown Princess, a surprise from Princess Madeleine and Princess Sofia showing off her wedding tiara. I can't wait for the next Tiara Time!!!

Fashion Fridays 4th December-10th December

Welcome to another session of Fashion Friday. We have a bit to get through today. Some really stunning pieces were shown off this week.

On Wednesday Queen Letizia stepped out in this for a conference on rare diseases. This is such a classic, red and black. This classic has worked for the Spanish Queen and she looks fantastic. The outfit is casual and very appropriate for a conference, the coat gives it a business like quality. Love it!!!

On Thursday Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore this outfit to visit 'Action of Addiction.' Honestly, I'm not a fan of the coat. It doesn't look bad, but I think it's just an ugly coat. Luckily underneath was the beautiful dress you see above. It's such a beautiful colour, and the pleats make it look really cute. The dress isn't flashy, it's perfect for when you want the attention to be on the charity you're visiting. The necklace is beautiful and I love how it sits with the dress. The addition of the black shows and hand bag just add a touch of something different. Kate looks great!!!

Thursday we also saw the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremonies in Norway and Sweden. Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore this to Norway's Award Ceremony. Norway's Nobel Award Ceremony is a lot less formal than, that of Sweden. You'll see why when we get to Sweden. I think Mette-Marit is gorgeous, really pretty. I'm not a fan of this outfit. The colours are right, but the dress looks like a sack. The little belt doesn't really do anything. The headband is cute but I wish she wouldn't wear her hair in a ponytail (she often does), as it makes her look like a school girl. Her purse and shows are cute. Sorry Mette-Marit, not a fan.

To the same event Queen Sonja of Norway wore this. I think this outfit is just so cute! First of all, I think the colour is just stunning. The hat is adorable and I think the scarf gives the outfit a real flare. I love the subtle difference in colour of the scarf as well, and that it has a pattern which makes the outfit more interesting. The little golden brooch is sweet and the matching earrings and ring work well. You can't see it, but her shoes are just a pair of black heels which works with this outfit. Queen Sonja has both thumbs up for me, she's got the right amount of formal with casual, and her outfit is age appropriate.

Thursday we also saw Queen Letizia of Spain wear this to an awards ceremony in Spain. If any of you have been into your local shops lately you'll notice these pants-top combos are back in fashion. I remember wearing them when I was about ten or eleven (that was fifteen years ago), and now everyone's wearing them. Queen Letizia looks great! The outfit is perfectly suite to the occasion. She's gone with simple black so the attention isn't on her, but on those involved in the ceremony. The pattern at the top of the dress allows for some colour with the dress. Luckily the Queen of Spain is quite tanned so the holes really work and do make a beautiful addition to the outfit. Her updo is formal and suits the outfit.

As I mentioned above, Sweden also held a Nobel Prize Awards Ceremony. As you can clearly see, there's is a lot more formal than Norway's. Honestly, I like this better. It's just so majestic! I'm not going to discuss the tiaras here (I'll do a Tiara Time as soon as I'm done here) but I will of course discuss the outfits.

Queen Silvia of Sweden wore this red outfit. From what I can see it looks like a top and skirt. The Queen of Sweden looks amazing in red, and she's got just the right amount of lipstick to match. I'm a big fan of the skirt. I just love the rich colour and the fabric looks amazing. I'm not such a fan of the top. I don't think the two reds work together. I love the little gold purse, it's adorable and sparkly and suits the smartness of the event.

As you can clearly see, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is pregnant (congrats!!!). She's due in March, and so she's at the end of her second trimester. I can't imagine having to go to an event like this and having to look beautiful when she's probably feeling anything but! I think she looks great though! Colour is beautiful and the dress is stunning, I love how it just flows. Her hair looks amazing, and I think an updo is great for this occasion. The only thing I would change is, I think for a princess as well as a formal event, I believe she's showing a bit to much cleavage for. That's just my personal opinion though, and as she's pregnant it's possible she can't really help it too much. All in all, beautiful dress though!

Princess Madeleine of Sweden wore this cute dress. I think this is just beautiful. I think the silver is a really nice colour. The outfit itself is just gorgeous. It's fitting to Madeleine's figure, yet it's just so tasteful. Her makeup has a bit of a metallic shine to it, which suits the silver colour of the dress. She's also gone with an updo and as with her sister, it suits. Beautiful, Madeleine.

Finally we have Princess Sofia, the wife of Prince Carl Philip. Like her sister-in-law she's also pregnant (Mazel Tov!!!) and is due just a month after (in April). I love how Sofia has her hair, it's just so shiny and is sitting beautifully. Sadly I'm not a fan of the dress, at least not all of it. I don't like the shoulder section, everything below that is fine. The shoulders remind me of little flies or something, it's just not my taste (you may feel differently). The rest of the dress is beautiful. I'm not a big fan of black, unless the outfit is really something special. I think black is just too overdone, but that aside the dress is nice. The floral pattern on the skirt adds a bit of something to the dress and the section around the chest is really pretty.

So what's my pick of the week. It's really, really hard. There were some really beautiful outfits this week. However my favourite outfit for this week is....

This outfit worn by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. I know it's not as fancy as Princess Madeleine, but Kate looks really pretty in it. What I love is, that it's an outfit that almost anybody can emulate. It was a tough decision this week. It was a toss up between Princess Madeleine, Queen Letizia and the Duchess of Cambridge. I was also closely considering Crown Princess Victoria and Queen Sonja. Kate won fair and square though, she really does look amazing in this simple outfit. Well done Duchess!!!

Wedding Wednesday (Prince Philippe, Duke of Brabant & Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz)

We missed Wedding Wednesday last week. It's actually Thursday in Australia, but since a lot of you are still in Wednesday I'll squeeze it in this week.

I thought we'd look at the 1999 wedding of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium since they celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary just 6 days ago.

This is the royal couple on their wedding day. In 1999 Philippe's parents King Albert II and Queen Paola were still ruling so they were just simply Prince Philippe, Duke of Brabant and Princess Mathilde of Belgium. As most royal brides Mathilde's train is quite long. I really love the sleeves and I think the veil is beautiful. They've kept the veil away from her face, which is great. Mathilde has such a pretty face it should be seen. I'm not a fan of the collar, makes me think of a jumper, when it's meant to be a wedding dress.

Here we have more of a close up. Mathilde has very little make-up which works beautifully on her. She is wearing Queen Elisabeth's Diamond Bandeau Tiara. This is without a doubt the most important tiara in the Belgian collection (they have 3 really important ones). It's only ever worn by the queen or by a bride of Belgium. It's a really beautiful tiara made up of the letter E over, and over again.

Mathilde had quite a large bouquet which can you see below.

I actually think this bouquet is too big for Mathilde's small frame. You can also see her shoes more clearly here. White and practical, not too high.

That's the bride and groom. There were many other royal guests of course. Belgian weddings are less formal than say Denmark, Sweden or Norway. With the exception of the bride we don't see any tiaras and no flowing gowns from the ladies. Let's take a look:

Grand Duke Jean & his wife Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte of Luxembourg. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were not just in attendance as foreign royalty, but as the uncle & aunt of the groom. Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte was the elder sister of King Albert II of Belgium.

Prince Alexander and Princess Esmerelda. They are the half uncle and half aunt of the groom. Children of King Leopold III's 2nd marriage.

Mathilde and Philippe with some of their flower girls. The girl in the middle at the front is Princess Luisa-Maria of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este. Luisa-Maria is Philippe's niece, daughter of Princess Astrid of Belgium. Luisa-Maria was 4 years old at the time.

I'm not sure why she's dressed in black but the girl in the back is Princess Maria-Laura, Archduchess of Austria-Este, eldest daughter of Princess Astrid of Belgium and niece of Philippe. Maria-Laura was 11 years old back then. This is the point where I say I can't stand these flower girl and page boy outfits. This photo looks like it should be for Christmas not a wedding.

The groom's parents of course. King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium. Queen Paola looks amazing, I love her little black gloves. Very regal, and queen like.

Philippe's 1st Cousin, Hereditary Grand Duke Jean and his wife Hereditary Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg (Of course now they hold the title of Duke and Duchess since Henri's father abdicated).

Philippe's older sister, Princess Astrid of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este and her husband Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este. With her fur shoulder shrug Princess Astrid really does look a princess.

Philippe's younger brother Prince Laurent of Belgium arrives with Queen Fabiola of Belgium.

Aunt of Philippe, and former Queen of Belgium, Queen Fabiola. Her hat is certainly fab!
