She may no longer be married to Prince Andrew, but she's still the Duchess of York. So today we wish a happy birthday to Sarah, Duchess of York!!! The Duchess turns 57 today and we wish the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie many, many happy returns of the day.

Happy Birthday Prince Christian!!!

Happy 11th Birthday Prince Christian!!! Prince Christian of Denmark is celebrating his 11th Birthday today. Prince Christian is 2nd in line to the Danish throne, he is a grandson of Queen Margrethe II and the eldest child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.

 We hope he has a very special day, despite his father's spinal injury. We hope the rest of his year will be full of lots of wonderful things and only happiness.

A very special Happy Birthday to Princess Luisa Maria of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este. Luisa Maria turned 21 on the 11th of October!!! Congratulations on becoming an adult in every country!!! 

Luisa Maria is the middle daughter and fourth child of Princess Astrid of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este and her husband Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este. Luisa Maria is also the niece of current monarch, King Philippe of Belgium and a granddaughter of King Albert II and Queen Paola. Luisa Maria is currently 10th in line to the Belgian throne.

Happy Anniversary King Hamad and Queen Sabika!!!

On 9th October 1968 King Hamad bin Isa Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain married his first wife Queen Sabika. They are celebrating 48 years of marriage!!!

King Hamad and Queen Sabika have three sons Crown Prince Salman (1969), Abdullah (1975), Khalifa (1977) and a daughter, Najla (1981). They also share 8 grandchildren, Isa, Mohammed, Fatima & Al Jude (Salman's Children) and Isa, Salman, Noora & Hessa (Abdullah's children).

 We wish them many more successful years together with their growing family!

On the 8th of October David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley of the United Kingdom celebrated 23 years of marriage to his wife Lady Serena, Viscountess Linley. 

Viscount and Viscountess Linley have two children together; Charles (1999) and Margarita (2002). I hope the two have many more healthy and happy years together!!!

On October 7th 2000 Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg abdicated and his son, Henri ascended to the throne. On this day we celebrate 16 years of Grand Duke Henri's reign.

Breaking News!!!

Breaking news from Thailand. As you may have been aware for the past week King Bhuibol Adulyadej of Thailand has been ill and in hospital for the past week. 

The King died 48 hours ago in the hospital. What will happen in Thailand now, nobody knows. The King's heir, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn is disliked by the public. For now though, we wish the best to the King's family and hope they get through this difficult time. 

I will endeavour to keep everyone posted about happenings in Thailand.

Get Well Soon Prince Frederik!!!

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has fractured his cervical spine whilst trampolining. The Prince will have to wear a neck brace for the next 12 weeks. We hope Frederik has a speedy recovery and wish him, Crown Princess Mary, Queen Margrethe II, Prince Henrik all the best during this time.

Tiara Time!!!

It's been a while since our last tiara time. As you may know from reading my 'What's Happening' posts King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on Sweden are currently on a state visit to Germany.

Last night they attended an official dinner at Schloss Bellevue Palace to welcome them. I didn't expect a tiara sighting, but Queen Silvia stepped out in tiara and ball gown for the occasion.

The elegant Queen of Sweden chose to wear the Connaught Diamond Tiara. This tiara is owned by The King. It's been worn by Silvia and both her daughters. I think it's an excellent choice for the occasion. It's a beautiful tiara that stands out. However it's not the oldest in the Swedish collection, by a long stretch. Queen Silvia probably wanted to wear a low key tiara as it was just a dinner and not a dinner where any other royals were attending. At the same time she probably wanted a tiara that looked nice, and made her guests feel important. The Connaught Diamond Tiara accomplishes this.

He is a nephew of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and King Felipe VI of Spain is his first cousin. Nikolaos is 7th in line to the former Greek throne.
