It's been a while since our last tiara time. As you may know from reading my 'What's Happening' posts King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on Sweden are currently on a state visit to Germany.
Last night they attended an official dinner at Schloss Bellevue Palace to welcome them. I didn't expect a tiara sighting, but Queen Silvia stepped out in tiara and ball gown for the occasion.
The elegant Queen of Sweden chose to wear the Connaught Diamond Tiara. This tiara is owned by The King. It's been worn by Silvia and both her daughters. I think it's an excellent choice for the occasion. It's a beautiful tiara that stands out. However it's not the oldest in the Swedish collection, by a long stretch. Queen Silvia probably wanted to wear a low key tiara as it was just a dinner and not a dinner where any other royals were attending. At the same time she probably wanted a tiara that looked nice, and made her guests feel important. The Connaught Diamond Tiara accomplishes this.
