Tiara Time!!!

In honour of his 70th Birthday King Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden hosted a banquet for his friends, family & royal guests. Tiaras just happened to be worn at this birthday banquet. Let's see what was on display...

Looking elegant as always, the leading lady, Queen Silvia. The Queen is wearing the Connaught Diamond Tiara. It dates back to 1905 and is not even close to being the oldest in the Swedish collection which has many, many old tiaras. It is a beautiful tiara though. It's owned by The King himself and Silvia is quite generous with it, both Crown Princes Victoria & Princess Madeleine have worn it.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wearing the Laurel Wreath Tiara. Not a very old one Swedish wise, but a unique one, and a good choice.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden. It's a bit hard to see what she's wearing but I believe it is the Swedish Modern Fringe Tiara. It's owned by Queen Silvia but Princess Madeleine is a frequent user. It's a beautiful, simple tiara and it looks great on Madeleine.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Margrethe II is wearing her favourite tiara, The Baden Palmette Tiara. The Queen just wore this tiara a few weeks ago at a state dinner with the President of Mexico. She also wore it last month at the Arts & Culture Ball. I love this tiara but honestly, three times so close together? The Danish have a beautiful collection of tiaras I think it might be time for Margrethe to wear a different tiara.

Crown Princes Mary chose to forgo a tiara altogether. Instead she's wearing some floral, leafy side head band thing. I'm not sure it's my cup of tea. It looks like something's crawling up her face. Each to their own I suppose.

Queen Mathilde is wearing the Wolfer's Necklace Tiara. It's a fairly new tiara and only dates back to the 1960's. It is special though as it used to belong to Queen Fabiola.

Princess Beatrix wears the Wurttenburg Pearl Tiara. This tiara is owned personally by the former queen and dates back to 1897. Despite the old date it is still not the oldest tiara in the Dutch collection.
