Tiara Time!!! Queen Margrethe II's 2017 New Year Banquet

Another New Year has been and gone. As per tradition Queen Margrethe II of Denmark held her New Year's Banquet in the evening of January 1st. The Queen and the Princesses Mary and Marie all wore tiaras. No real surprises in what they wore, but we'll have a look anyway.

Margrethe wears her beloved fur stole and looks pretty in a light blue dress, though it looks a lot like the one she wore last year. Her tiara is the Pearl Poire. It dates back to 1825 and is actually owned by the Country of Denmark rather than the Queen herself. It's a nice tiara, bit boring, but a favourite of Queen Margrethe. She wore this tiara last year as well and coupled with the look a like dress is a bit of a disappointment.

Crown Princess Mary looks stunning in a light gold shimmery dress. The combination with the maroon cardigan is just beautiful. It really compliments her make up as does her subtle make up. Two thumbs for Mary in the clothing department. Her tiara is the Ruby Parure which she personally owns. It's one of the oldest Danish tiaras dating back to 1804. It's a favourite of Crown Princess Mary and she's worn it to the past six New Years Day Banquet including this year. I'm actually not a fan of it. I think it's too tall and chunky for Mary. Mary's elegant and needs something a bit smaller.

Princess Marie like her sister-in-law chose something shimmery. I'm not a huge fan of this. It's a bit bland and the gold doesn't match with the silver. Her shoes are nice though. Marie is wearing the Diamond Floral Tiara. This tiara was purchased in 2009 specially for The Princess and it belongs to her. Marie prefers it to her other tiara and frequently wears it. This is the 5th year in a row she's chosen this tiara for the New Year's Banquet.
