Princess Beatrice of York


Princess Beatrice of York is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Beatrice is a granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. When Beatrice was born she was 5th in line to the throne, she is currently 8th in line to the throne.

Princess Beatrice was born on August 8th 1988 in London. She was baptised in December of that year and christened Beatrice Elizabeth Mary. Beatrice's name is a nod to the fact that her father Prince Andrew was the first child born to a reigning monarch of The United Kingdom since the birth of Princess Beatrice, the youngest child of Queen Victoria. Amongst her godparents is her father's first cousin and son of Princess Margaret, David Armstrong, Lord Snowdon (then the Viscount Linley).

Beatrice grew up alongside her younger sister Princess Eugenie (1990). She began her education at Upton House School in 1991 at the age of 3. In 1995 at the age of seven she began attending Coworth Park. From there she attended boarding school at St George's School in Ascot where she graduated in 2007. Beatrice struggled at school due to her dyslexia, however she excelled in Drama. During her time at school The Princess was elected head girl and was a member of the school choir. Upon graduation Beatrice entered Goldsmith s College, London where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in History and History of ideas. Princess Beatrice graduated from college in 2011.

Whilst not working as a member of the royal family Princess Beatrice has many passions and charities that she works closely with. In 2002 Beatrice traveled to Russia to meet children with HIV. due to her own battles with dyslexia The Princess is involved with the literacy project 'Springboard for Children.' Along with her mother Sarah, Duchess of York Princess Beatrice is involved with Teenage Cancer Trust. Princess Beatrice regularly participates in The London Marathon. Beatrice is also a patron of Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, an organisation supporting children with life-shortening illnesses. Princess Beatrice currently lives in New York and works a full-time job, and divides her time between her duties in London and her life in America.
