Wedding Wednesday (George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews & Sylvana Tomaselli)

In 3 days time it will be the 28th wedding anniversary of George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews and his wife Sylvana (nee Tomaselli), Countess of St Andrews. George is the eldest son of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. He is therefore heir to one of the most well known dukedoms in the United Kingdom. George also happens to be a Great Grandson of King George V and Queen Mary, as well as occupying 35th place in line to the throne.

In honour of the upcoming anniversary, we will take a look at the wedding. The wedding was itself fairly controversial as Ms Tomaselli was not only a divorcee, but also a Roman Catholic. These are two things that the crown frowns upon. Due to his marriage George lost his position in the line of succession to the throne. He did however retain his position in the line of succession for the Dukedom of Kent. Due to this controversy the wedding was a small affair and held at register office in Edinburgh, Scotland.

On March 26th 2015 the rule about Roman Catholics was overturned and George's place was restored.

Tiara Time!!! (Queen Margrethe's New Year Banquet 2016)

Every year on the evening of January 1st Queen Margrethe II of Denmark throws a New Year Banquet. It's a fantastic time to see the Danish royals come out in all their glitter & sparkles. I finally found some pictures of the 2016 banquet held just 5 days ago;

The royal host, Queen Margrethe II & her husband Prince Henrik. Queen Margrethe looks just stunning in that beautiful sky blue gown. I love the fur scarf, really adds a bit of winter to the look. I can imagine that this is what Queen Elsa would look like if she was 75. It's a bit hard to see but the Queen is wearing the Pearl Poire Tiara, one of Denmark's most important tiaras. This tiara is only ever worn by the present queen of Denmark. I can't wait to see it adorn Princess Mary's head once she takes the role.

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Marie and Prince Joachim

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. Like her mother-in-law Mary has gone with blue for the evening. I love both shades of blue, just not together. It's also two different materials and patterns & it looks a little strange. On her head Princess Mary is wearing the the Ruby Parure Tiara. Aside from her wedding tiara this is the one that Crown Princess Mary wears most frequently.

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Marie and Prince Joachim
Princes Marie and Prince Joachim of Denmark. My first thought is isn't she cold! Queen Margrethe is all rugged up in furs & the Crown Princess is wearing long sleeve. Princess Marie steps out with not even a jacket. The dress is beautiful, though all white is a little plain. She's clearly spiced it up with her red toe polish. I love it! The princess is wearing the Diamond Floral Tiara.
