Expectations of 2016

     What do we expect to see from the royal families in 2016? 

There are some definite events that we count on, some of them even fairly significant. Definite events are:

1). In March Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden will have her baby. The baby will be 3rd in line to the Swedish throne.

2). In April Princess Sofia of Sweden, wife to the current third in line Prince Carl Philip will give birth to her first child. The baby will be fifth in line.

3). We will see some big events in the United Kingdom to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday as well as her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh's 95th. 

4). In September the Olympics will be held in Brazil. I have no doubt we will see some royals heading to South America to check out the sporting events

There are things less certain that I think we'd all like to see:

1). Zara Phillips competing in Brazil (& winning a medal)

2). A pregnancy announcement from;

- Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg 
- Prince Amedeo, Archduke of Austria-Este and Princess Elisabetta 
- Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo 
- Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece & Denmark 

3). An abdication or two;

- Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein in favour of Hereditary Prince Alois

- King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in favour of Crown Princess Victoria

- Emperor Akihito of Japan in favour of Crown Prince Naruhito

- Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in favour of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge (that's right I said it!!!)

- Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in favour of Crown Prince Frederik

- King Harald V of Norway in favour of Crown Prince Haakon

4). An engagement announcement from a number of royals (in this order)

- Prince Harry 
- Princess Beatrice of York
- Princess Eugenie of York
- Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan
- Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg
- Princess Theodora of Greece & Denmark
- Prince Andrew of York (2nd time)
- Charlotte Casiraghi
- Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo (2nd time)
- Princess Stephanie of Monaco (2nd time)
- Pauline Ducruet
- Lady Amelia Windsor
- Prince Sebastien of Luxembourg
