Wedding Wednesdays (Princess Margriet of The Netherlands & Pieter van Vollenhoven)

This past Sunday Princess Margriet of The Netherlands celebrated her 49th wedding anniversary with husband Pieter Van Vollenhoven. Princess Margriet is the third of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard's four children. She is the aunt of current monarch, King Willem-Alexander and 8th in line to the Dutch throne.

The wedding took place on 10th January 1967. The royal guest list included the royal couple themselves, Queen Juliana & Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands, her sisters Crown Princess Beatrix, Princess Irene and Princess Christina.  Queen Elizabeth II attended the wedding and brought along 17 year old Princess Anne. This is unusual as Queen Elizabeth rarely attends weddings outside of her family.

The marriage has produced four sons and 11 grandchildren. Every marriage should be so successful!

The bride & Groom. You can see quite clearly Princess Margriet is wearing the Pearl Button Tiara.

The full length of Princess Margriet's dress. The train of course is very long, I quite like the dress as a whole. It's simple & very pretty. The bouquet is nice too, it's not too big which is a lot of the problem we see at royal weddings.
